Valley Falls // Rensselaer County

Valley Falls, four minutes out.

Head west out of Valley Falls on NY 67 and the shop is about two miles away, a 4-minute drive.

Leaving a vehicle with the shop does not mean a long trip across the county.

The garage has roll-up bays and a lift, and brakes, oil changes, engine work and diagnostics are done in house.

Suspension repair and AC repair are on the list too, along with pre-purchase inspections for anyone buying a used car.

Work trucks and fleet vehicles that cannot be driven in are a job for the mobile service truck.

Call (518) 441-6283 with the vehicle and where it is sitting.

Know the area

Around Valley Falls.

The Hoosic River splits Valley Falls unevenly. Most of the village sits on the south bank, in the Town of Pittstown.

The Village Annex on the north bank belongs to the Town of Schaghticoke.

James Thompson built a textile mill here in 1871, and in its day nearly all the villagers worked in it.

The mill burned in 2009, and the Hoosic still has a dam at Valley Falls, as it does at Johnsonville and Schaghticoke.

The village is only about half a square mile, with a Free Library, a post office and a Community Hall of its own.

Homes are mostly frame houses, with farms around the edges and Johnsonville the next village east.

Services in Valley Falls

What we fix for Valley Falls.

From the shop, take Main Street (NY 40 and NY 67) to the fairgrounds, then follow NY 67 east for about two miles.

The road crosses the Hoosic River and enters the village as Albany Road, then meets State Street (CR 117).

Coming from farther out along NY 67 through Buskirk, the same road brings you back to the shop.

A work truck that will not start in a Valley Falls yard is a call for the mobile service truck, so phone (518) 441-6283.

The roads you drive

Short trips and salted roads.

Village driving means short hops, and short trips keep an engine from fully warming up.

That is hard on oil, so regular oil changes matter just as much on a quiet village street as on a highway.

NY 67 over the Hoosic and out through Buskirk adds winter salt, which works on brake lines and frames.
