Brake Repair // Schaghticoke

Stops straight, quiet and sure.

Brakes are the one system you never want to guess about.

At Upstate Auto & Mobile Truck Repair, the job starts with a look at the whole system, not just the pads.

Pads, rotors, calipers, hoses and the fluid all get checked, so you hear what is worn and what still has life in it.

Then you get the plan and the price before any work starts.

Cars and light trucks come into the bay on Pleasant Ave in Schaghticoke.

Fleet trucks that cannot roll safely can get looked at where they sit.

How it goes

Step by step, no surprises.

The same order on every job: look, explain, fix, then prove it on the road.

  1. Step 01

    Look at the whole system

Wheels come off and every corner gets measured. Pads, rotors, calipers, slides and hoses all get a real look.

  2. Step 02

    Plan and price first

You hear what is worn, what can wait and what it costs. Nothing gets replaced until you say go.

  3. Step 03

    Repair and bleed

Worn parts get replaced and slides get cleaned and greased. The system is bled so the pedal is firm.

  4. Step 04

    Road test

Every brake job ends on the road, not on the lift. It should stop straight, quiet and sure.

Upstate roads // local wear

Salt season eats brakes.

Upstate winters are hard on brakes.

Road salt on NY 40 and NY 67 eats at rotors, caliper slides and steel brake lines from November to April.

A spring check after the salt season catches rust before it turns into a seized caliper or a leaking line.

Shop or mobile?

Most brake work happens in the bay, where the vehicle is up on the lift.

If a fleet truck cannot be driven safely, call (518) 441-6283 and describe it.

You will hear on the call whether it gets fixed where it sits or towed in.

Questions

Questions about brake repair.

How do I know if I need pads or rotors?

Grinding usually means the pads are gone and metal is touching the rotor.

A shake when you stop often points to warped rotors. The inspection tells you which, before anything gets ordered.

Do you work on trucks as well as cars?

Yes. Cars and light trucks come into the shop, and fleet trucks can be looked at on your lot or at the roadside.

Call and describe the vehicle.

Can I wait while you work on it?

That depends on the job and the day. Call ahead at (518) 441-6283 and ask what the bay looks like.
